The Story of My Life!
I was born in September 18th, 1950 in Lopez Clinic, Ermita , Manila. My mummy told me it was about 7 am on a Monday morning.. The doctor who delivered me was Dr,. Manuel Galvez at Lopez clinic, Ermita, Manila. Dr Galvez was our family doctor and a very dear friend of my Dada from during the war. My birth took place in Lopex clinic in Ermita. During that time, the family was staying at a very large house in Taft Avenue owned by Dr. Galvez opposite what is nown now as Cartimar market. Dr. Galvez's clinic was just accross the house we were staying in right along Taft avenue. Dr Galvez ws a very wealthy man married to Ester Rufino from the weathy and proinent Rufino family.
When I was about 3 years old, the family moved to Perez st. A short distance walk away from or house was an American school where Babs, Asha and I went to school. I was in the nursery class.
When I was 5 years old when I went to kindergarden at San Juan de Letran college in Intramurous, Manila. The reason my family chose this school for me was because Bhau Mohan and Bhau Nari were studying there so it was convenient that I could go with them in the morning in the family's black 180d Mercedez Benz. and they could take me back at noon when they came back home for lunch. I remember being terrified and cried so much on my first day of school. After my nanny Inday left me in class, I quickly ran out screeming, so she had to take me back home. The following day Dada had to bring me himself and made me sit inside the classroom with a warning that he was standing outside. Well I was too scared to run o again after this.
The family eventualy moved our home to no. 1456 San Marcelino st.
which as about 3 blocks away from where we were staying. Our home ws directy across the Masonic Temple. The house was owned by Mr. Alfonso Garcia, a Spaniard friend (more like a brother to Dada). He insisted that we stay in that home rent free, while he stayed in the same enclosed compaund in another bigger home next to us. This is where I got friendly with our driver Henry's son Johnny. Babs Asha and I, and eventualy Rajan, Ashok, and Mona spent most of our childhood years in this home. We learned to roller skate, bike, play street games, hand ball and evtually even drive a car within this large compound.
